About the IEF

Why the IEF?

The IEF programmes have the potential to break the vicious circle of poverty that many families are trapped in. We can create a community that doesn't have boundaries, but endless possibilities, a community where following dreams can be taken seriously and where financial suffering can be relieved.

We provide schools with up-to-date textbooks, computers and specialist equipment, depending on their needs. As students ourselves, we understand the difference that a good education makes and by utilising experts in various fields of education we ensure that each school we help gets a tailor-made program so that students can reap the full benefits of our aid.

However, the IEF’s work does not stop there. We deliver all the resources in person and talk to the local teachers, developing a plan for the next years and pinpointing what other equipment they might need. With many IEF members being medical students we also give basic healthcare seminars within each community, including first-aid and knowledge of common local diseases.

Why do we focus on education?

Knowledge is indefinable, as it has no limits. The importance of possessing knowledge in the modern day is inescapable. In essence, education has provided people an opportunity to turn the world into their oyster. In countries like the UK, we have every opportunity whether we want to become doctors, engineers, scientists or economists. We live in a hugely competitive society that pushes us to achieve our best. It provides a breeding ground for the selection of the most elite individuals and thus provides a vibrant society.

However, in developing countries a lot of children are not reaching their potential. Often it is because local schools are ill-equipped to provide more than the most basic education, whether the country is ravaged by war, disease or debt. Why should these people be denied the same education we often take for granted?

It doesn’t seem fair. Despite every hardship faced they remain determined, making conscious efforts to change the futures of their children, though often it must feel they are fighting a losing battle.

So how can we win this battle?

The IEF is determined to help children in the developing world receive the same quality of education that we did. We envision a world without illiteracy where every person enjoys the right to a quality education and a life of respect. We hope to facilitate the amelioration of global academic poverty and poor public health. Through promoting international collaborations we will enable delivery of structured education that will improve prospects within communities of the developing world.

By utilising cutting edge ambassadors of respective academic fields we hope to develop effective teaching programmes, moulded specifically for individual community. We will also help equip teachers with the necessary resources to give their students the best education possible.

Equal Opportunities

It is our central belief that all individuals, regardless of their race, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability or age deserve an equal platform to voice their views and concerns. We recognise a diverse workforce allows our unit to operate and benefit from the best talent available. This is powered by the ability to generate new ideas by drawing on talents, skills and different cultural perspectives. The promotion of equality and diversity is a duty we take very seriously and feel it is a communal responsibly to which we contribute. We ensure views are respected irrespective of their quantitative status.
